Public transportation
Community Action Wayne/Medina and Medina County Public Transit are pleased to announce a free transportation option. Low-income residents interested in riding the fixed route in Medina, Brunswick, and Wadsworth can apply at CAW/M. Households with an income less than 125% of the federal poverty guideline qualify for this new program. (A family of four can make up to $30,375 per year.) Once qualified, they are eligible to receive a monthly, unlimited-use pass from CAW/M to ride the fixed route transit in those three locations.
“Office of Older Adults offers a similar pass for senior citizens. Community Action wanted to be able to help others who may also be struggling with transportation in a more meaningful way,” stated Donna Holmes, Director of Planning and Community Development at CAW/M. “Previously, our agency was only able to offer 20 tokens a month to a household. Now thanks to collaborative effort with MCPT, people will be able to get a pass that allows them to ride the bus as often as they need to for the entire month.”
Community Action also continues to offer free on-demand service to low income residents in the remainder of the County, but it is limited until further funding can be dedicated.
For more information, or to apply, please contact Community Action Wayne/ Medina at 799 North Court St, Medina 330-723-2229.
Prescription drug discount program
Brunswick has introduced a program that will provide free prescription drug discount cards to City residents. The program is administered by CVS Caremark and can save residents an average of 23%* off the full retail cost of prescription medication. The card can be used at a wide variety of area pharmacies. There is no enrollment form required to get a card, no membership fee, and the card can be used any time prescriptions are not covered by insurance. Cards can be picked up in the lobby of City Hall.
