AM1700 – WPZK
In 2004, the City of Brunswick was granted a license to operate a low power, traveler’s advisory radio station. The goal of the station is to keep motorists advised of road construction, and to allow for emergency messaging to the community in time of need.
Officially operated as station WPZK932, the radio station offers community interest messages, along with regularly updated weather forecasts from NOAA weather radio. Maintained by the staff of Brunswick Area Television, the messages can be overridden during emergency situations by the Communications staff of the Division of Police. During severe weather warnings, issued by the National Weather Service, the station automatically switches to the NOAA alert feed, keeping residents advised of severe weather in the area.
Being a low powered station, AM1700 is designed principally to be received by AM radios inside vehicles, however, you may be able to receive the feed inside your home with a proper antennae.
